Welcome to the Houston Chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement. Based on principles of environmental alignment and use of the scientific
method applied toward social and environmental concern, we are advocating a socially just, sustainable and peaceful way of life.
This is referred to as the Resource-Based Economy as proposed by Jacque Fresco, creator of The Venus Project. At this time, our
single most important goal with the Zeitgeist Movement is to spread the message of the Venus Project. The best, most active way
that any individual can assist in spreading this message is to become involved in their own local chapter.
September 3, 2010 - 8:54 pm Today on V-Radio a discussion with Peter Joseph, Douglas Mallette and Jacque and Roxanne about using the Scientific Method to arrive at conclusions.
Douglas Mallette back from Switzerland, V-Radio Interview
August 16, 2010 - 10:13 pm Going on right now an interview with Douglas talking about his experience over in Caux, Switzerland for the Initiatives of Change conference, Leading Change for a Sustainable World.
July 17, 2010 - 12:24 am Sorry I wasn't able to get it out earlier, but I have been sick all week. I had plans to go to Austin but that didn't occur due to the illness. I probably wont be attending tomorrow's meeting either.
I want to hear some good things come out of it though. We need to be planning our next step as a group. At minimum be thinking about how to answer the many questions we will receive directly.
July 6, 2010 - 5:45 pm I just sent out the first Houston Chapter newsletter to everyone in our old mail list, and everyone that is signed up.
Some new features on the site have been added as well. Users can now suggest a meeting location to upcoming meetings. I will be adding an archive page of all previous newsletters as well for everyone to see if they missed any.
We will discuss different formats of the newsletter at our next meeting. Along with submitting articles and announcements.
June 30, 2010 - 5:05 pm I have added the classic RSVP system that meetup.com has into the site. This is an optional method of showing you will attend the next meeting. It also has a guest count option, to show how many people you will bring.
Soon I will be starting the email newsletter as well as the pre-meeting notification email.
June 29, 2010 - 2:36 pm Hey everyone,
I got the Text Chat working. If you see a number higher than 0 on the Text Chat button means there is someone waiting to chat in there.
I thought it would be most useful in meetup situations where we are trying to find each other. Instead of having everyone text each other or send an email to everyone, they can just go to chat and inform everyone where they are.
It could also be used to inform a new user if they have questions. Or if we want to meet up online, as it works over smart phones as well. Anyway try it out :)
June 25, 2010 - 11:40 pm Hey guys, now that accounts are working I added the Background Info form to the Edit Profile page. This will be the short information about yourself that people can see when they visit the About Us page.
Check the check box to have it show up on that page.
Can't wait to see what you guys put :)
I have just finished setting up the initial stages of accounts. Next up I will be adding a form to input the About Us info for each user account, you will be able to add your background info in the Edit Profile page under My Account.
June 5, 2010 - 12:00 pm Meeting Today! It will be held at the restaurant Taco Milagro at 2:00pm.
2555 Kirby Drive
Houston, TX 77019-6320
I'll be passing out DVDs of a new movie I ran into last night called "Collapse" released in 2009 about Michael Rupert and his
extensive knowledge about an imminent system collapse caused by Peak Oil.
May 28, 2010 - 10:00 pm A late post about the May 29 meeting which will be at Rafael's house this week.
Some of the maps might show an incorrect root and
Rafael has given us the following for the best way to get there:
It's best to come via Richmond ave, going West from Fondren take a right on the first available street called JARVIS. (it's a small street. If you made it to Jeanetta you went too far)
Go to GABRIEL st and turn right. It's a dead end, the last (white) house on the left.
If you have any trouble call Rafael at (713) 298-5603.
May 23, 2010 - 7:30 pm A quick business card mock up for the Houston Chapter to hand out to anyone we meet that might be interested in the movement.
We'll discuss changes and/or additions at the next meeting if needed.
May 22, 2010 - 7:30 pm The meeting on the 21st went really well. The next meeting will be at Katheryne and Sean's Apartment Club House in the
Theater Room. They will be ordering food from Franks & Toppings for us, so you can e-mail Katheryne at
earthbound1981@yahoo.com anything from this menu that you would like
if anything. Be sure to bring cash for your food.
These are some of the ideas and goals discussed at the last meeting:
Business cards to easily hand out to inform new people.
